Hope that Edna defense is as good as y'all say it is. Boling's offense needs to be tested. The district looks tough this year. Should be a good game.

Edna's defense is very good. They return all the key pieces and have added some serious speed in the defensive backfield. Cowboy D held Refugio to 3 first half points last year and they are better this year. Edna puts a lot of pressure on the opposing offense with the downside in the past being getting burnt by the big play once in a while due to so much blitzing and stunting. This year, I think we have the speed in the d backfield to help prevent the big play. I've seen the Boling backs and they are very good, probably as good as anything we'll see this year unless we play deep late in the year. But, expect a lot of Edna defenders in the Boling backfield. For sure the Boling backs will break through a few times, the difference in the game may be do they take it to the house, or get held to a 15 or 20 yard gain.

On the Boling side of things they better be able to cover deep because Edna has a ton of speed and talent at WR and TE. I hear the injury bug has hit Edna a bit so they'll be down a few linemen, but they are deep on both sides of the line. I think Edna wins by a couple of scores, if they win the TO battle. If the Boling O is on the field all night could be a long night for the Cowboys.

You do know that Needville is picked to win their 3A district right? Other than Needville's first drive of the game, their offense could hardly manage a first down, much less a drive to threaten to score.

Boling is about to find out what it means to get hit. It was awesome watching the Cowboys play Needville and see us hitting again. We will see how fast those Bolings running backs are after a few hits from the Cowboy defense.

Also, as it was already pointed out, it is absolutely horrible to play in a mud bowl as a speed team. Mud takes away the ability to accelerate quickly and cut, nuertalizing any advantage speed and agility gives you. Power and size wins mud bowls and Edna has that in abundance.

Well, they may have a power back, but I've only seen comments about how great Boling's speed running game is. This was the first post I've seen about having power and having "a" power running back would not win you a game, it takes a power running team.

I haven't seen Boling, so I have no idea exactly how fast they are, but I did go watch the Cowboys against Needville and I can assure you that the Cowboys have a ton of speed in the secondary and linebacker positions (and offense). The Cowboy defensive line is decent sized and quick off the snap, but they are not nearly as big as their offensive line (which by the listed weights averages at 268lbs).

Also, I believe it was you that also stated that the Cowboys lost 90% of their offense with the graduation of Kam and transfer of Yates.

Kam is not really someone you can replace, he was a tremendous athlete and any team that loses a player like him feels it. However, Yates did not play the Cuero game or either playoff game last year. Yates was a good power running back, but he was not a critical part of Edna's offense as it is not Edna's running game that is so dangerous, it is the passing attack that will rip through defenses.

The receivers are better this year than last year (saw two amazing one handed catches against Needville) and although this quarterback doesn't have a dangerous rushing ability, he can throw and that big O-line gives him plenty of time to do it.

A wet game would be a disadvantage for Edna, but their O-line has the weight to dig deep in the mud and get a good push to establish a running game in those conditions, but for now there isn't much more rain in the forecast so hopefully it will dry out a bit and let both teams play on a fairly dry field. Either way, should be a good game to watch.

Boling is not that fast. 80% of the playbook is geared at or inside the tackles. They will not turn the corner and outrun most teams. Just 3 hard runners that get north and south.

Teams have had success throwing it against Boling this year but they are yet to give up points in the air. This game will get Boling ready for Weimar in 2 weeks.

I really doubt it. They may win but it won't be by more than 14 points.

Did you travel to Needville and watch Edna play? Did you skip the Ganado vs Industrial game last week to go watch Boling play? Just curious because you seem, as well as many others, to be very informed to how this game will come out.

It is like that poll the VA had last week about which cheer squad has the most spirit. How could you possibly know without seeing them all in action?

Young Mr. Yates is quite the athlete, but do we miss him...we wish him well.
